Google Business Profile: 7 Fast Tweaks to Get More Calls

If you serve customers locally, your Google Business Profile (GBP) is prime real estate. Small, 10-minute tweaks can turn it into a steady stream of calls—without spending on ads.

1) Nail your categories

Use the most specific primary category (e.g., Family Counselor vs Counselor). Add 2–4 relevant secondary categories.

2) Fill out “Services” with scannable descriptions

List each service with a 1–2 sentence description and your city where natural. This helps Google—and people—understand what you do.

3) Use the “Products” section (even for services)

Create simple “product” cards for common services with short blurbs and a “Learn More” link to the most relevant page.

4) Add photos that people want to click

Upload 5–10 clean, real photos (location exterior/interior, team, work context). Avoid stocky images; use natural light. Add a short description to each.

5) Ask for reviews the easy way

Create a short script and send it right after a good experience:

“If this was helpful, would you mind leaving a quick Google review? It helps more locals find us. Here’s the link—thank you!”

Respond to every review with warmth and specifics.

6) Post weekly

Short tips, before/after, or a quick “What to expect.” Include a call-to-action like Call or Learn More (use UTM parameters on links so you can see traffic in analytics).

7) Track calls & tighten over time

Turn on call history (if available) and compare with your site’s inquiry volume. If calls are light, revisit categories, services, photos, and posting cadence.
